Guidelines for Submission
Manuscripts can be submitted until the expiry of the deadline. Submissions must be previously unpublished and may not be under consideration elsewhere.

With the advent of high-throughput ‘omics’ technologies, large-scale biological data are readily available and have ushered in a new field of ‘genome informatics’. The advances in this field are not limited to collecting all the information of genes but also studying their relationships on a genome-wide scale, especially to gain insights into details of gene structure and function, and determination of tertiary structure of proteins.

This special issue is targeted to discuss the advancement in the characterization of gene structure and function using genome informatics approaches. This includes the screening of genes in various model systems using expression sequence tag (EST) and RNA-Seq analysis. Topics related to gene recognition, functional analysis using RNA interference, structure prediction, phylogenetic classification for identification of genes, the understanding of structure-function relationships, and evolution of gene products will be considered for publication. Additionally, the use of computational biology approaches for a comparative analysis of genomes and gene families will offer valuable insights towards gene regulation and protein function, and will also be considered for publication.
