From 2012 to 2013, PERFORMANCE OF ALKALI ACTIVATED SLAG WITH VARIOUS ALKALI ACTIVATORS , The need to meet a sustainable development is now an important challenge to the cement industry. The production of OPC is responsible for about 7% of the world‟s CO2 emission, a major contributor to the green house effect which is implicated in global warming and climatic changes, lead to the search for more environmentally viable alternative to cement. One of those alternative material is alkali activated slag (AAS) where ground granulated blast furnace slag is used not as partial replacement to cement but also as a sole binder in the production of concrete. The overall aim of the study was to investigate the potential of alkali activated slag as a sole binder in producing concrete.
From 2014 to 2015, Studies on Impact Strength of Concrete with Nano-Materials at Elevated Temperatures , Nano composites are produced by adding nanoparticles to a material in order to improve the properties of material. Concrete is a material most widely used in construction industry. Concrete is a composite material made up of cement, sand, aggregate, water and mineral or chemical admixtures. The materials such as nano-silica, nano flyash, nano metakaolin are being combined with cement. There are also a limited number of investigations dealing with the manufacture of nano-cement. The use of finer particles (higher surface area) has advantages in terms of filling the cement matrix, densifying the structure, resulting in higher strength and faster chemical reactions i.e. hydration reactions. Nano-cement particles can accelerate cement hydration due to their high activity. Similarly, the incorporation of nano-particles can fill pores more effectively to enhance the overall strength and durability.
From 2016 to present, Influence of Nano Silica on Blended Concrete , Concrete is a material most widely used in construction industry. As already mentioned, it is a composite material in which mineral or chemical admixtures are added. The materials such as nano-silica, nano fly ash and nano metakaolin are being added to cement. There are also a limited number of investigations dealing with the manufacture of nanocement.
